Connellsville staging yard throat.12 viewsThrough routes complete. The outbound throat (on the left) has free floating points. Track capacity works out to about 34 to 36 50' cars on each track. This accounts for 3 diesels and a caboose.

New Connellsville Staging Loop15 views4 through tracks in the loop, with 6 stub end storage tracks. Should be plenty, ya think?

Track Power Indicators7 viewsThe stub end storage tracks will be a little tough to see, so I'm adding LED indicators to the bumpers, and will likewise include them on a control panel at the dispatcher's desk.

Chessie era right of way5 viewsThe former return loop to the original staging yard is abandoned, the track repurposed in the new Connellsville loop yard.

Temporary section84 viewsThis new temporary section provides more operational opportunities for the layout while it waits in a holding pattern for my son's new bedroom to be renovated. The only thing "permanent" is the river bed, the new bridge, and the embankment on the left side. The rest will be ripped out when construction on the finished product proceeds, hopefully summer 2007.

Staging route vs. current temporary trackage23 viewsThe yellow route represents the Connellsville sub, which will proceed around the expanded peninsula, then connect with the west end staging throat. The red line is the Thomas Sub, which will loop around the other way, and proceed along the exterior wall to Elkins.
